Trombone rendering - Blender 3D • Juan Manuel Maldonado

by Juan Maldonado - July 24 2012

I decided to do a trombone rendering. This is one of the instruments that I played in high school. I was primarily a baritone horn player but I was told that if I wanted to be a more well-rounded musician and one who maybe got occasional work, I should learn to play the trombone. Outside of Gustav Holst’s music, marching bands and polka parties, no one has much use for the baritone but the suggestion that I learn the trombone was strange, because many of the best unemployed musician jokes revolve around trombonists. Like so:

Q: What’s the difference between a roadkill trombonist laying on the side of the road and a roadkill skunk laying on the side of the road?

A: The skunk was more likely to be heading to a paying gig than the trombonist.

Building on the trumpet that I did a few months back, I used many of the same techniques. Essentially it’s just a lot of extruded circles used to create, if I may borrow a phrase from the late Alaska senator Ted Stevens, a series of tubes. Rendered in Cycles and uploaded for your amusement.

Notice the sweet logo at the far left. Look familiar?  😉
