Another quick blog post to show that I am among the living! Two things:
- My 3D rendering of the Alhondiga de Granaditas was used in an exhibit at the museum itself during the Cervantino Festival in October. The theme for the festival this year was water, and a Mexican architect wanted to augment my rendering with visual details for a demo of the fort’s well system. Of course I said yes. I hope to share some of the final photos soon, as I’m still haven’t seen the final product. I hope it turned out good.
- Coincidentally, the day before my now-wife and I visited the Alhondiga, we went to the town square of San Miguel de Allende and saw an unusual site: a Starbucks in a 17th century colonial building. After marvelling at that site for a moment, I took a picture with my then brand new iPhone 4. The picture was just published last month in STUDIO magazine’s #5 edition in their photo feature, “Capture Your Starbucks.”
- Sadly, I must report a near miss… another photo of mine (a selfie in front of the Mona Lisa taken during our Paris honeymoon) didn’t quite make the cut for Colors Magazine. It was because I took the photo in portrait instead of landscape. I thought it was appropriate to use portrait since, well, it’s the most famous portrait of all. Let that be a lesson to you, picture takers: don’t take photos in portrait, ever.
I love when people want to use things I make. However, I very rarely enter my work into any contests or do much promotion of my work other than here in my blog. If you ever want to use something of mine, just let me know. Not only will I most likely acquiesce, but I may pimp your project. 😉
